In this 10 Good Questions interview, Zack McCullock from Water4 tells Goodnet about the importance of sustainable water solutions in the developing world. In his work coordinating projects for the nonprofit, McCullock constantly finds himself inspired by the entrepreneurs out in the field drilling water wells across Africa: “Those entrepreneurs are changing the world one well at a time.”

1. What is your organization’s mission?

Water4 exists to transform communities by putting a sustainable solution in the hands of local men and women. We train entrepreneurs to drill their own water wells and install their own hand pumps. As a result, these teams have not only a vocation and a means to provide for themselves and their families, but also the tools and skills to bring access to safe drinking water to their communities.

2. What makes you guys different from the rest?

Water4 provides entrepreneurs with simple, durable, and field-proven stepping stone technology that paves the way for advanced water systems. Our well drilling kit allows entrepreneurs to launch and scale small drilling enterprises quickly and efficiently. Additionally, our drilling method is 1/10th the cost of a mechanically drilled well. At Water4 we believe in a hand up, not a hand out.

3. Offices or open work space?

Semi-open offices

4. What three words describe your organization?

Innovative. Caring. Global.

5. What inspires you?

The men that serve in the field day in and day out drilling water wells for communities across Africa inspire me. Those entrepreneurs are changing the world one well at a time.

6. What is the best part about your job?

As a Project Manager, I love that I get to be a part of many types of projects within our organization. From traveling to internal design projects, to managing some of our team members in Ghana - no two days are exactly the same.

7. Does your team eat lunch together?

One of our 2015 goals is to eat together more. As it stands, we usually eat together at least once every two weeks.

8. Facebook or Twitter?

Twitter!

9. What do you want Goodnet users to know about your organization?

Water4 has worked in 26 countries, drilled and repaired over 3,000 wells, and has provided nearly 1 million people with access to clean drinking water since 2008.

10. How can people get involved?

There are several ways people can get involved:

Individuals: Start a fundraiser with your friends or family and provide a well to a community in need.
Fundraisers: Support a global mission to provide water to those in need - start a fundraiser to support the drill teams providing physical and Living water to communities.
Companies: Become a cause minded company and partner with Water4 to change the world and engage your employees by taking them on a Vision Trip -  contact us for more information.
Universities: Start your own campus club.
