Today's burgeoning class of digital nomads needs little more than a WiFi connection to set up shop, and independently develop anything from the next big startup to becoming a viral Youtube star. But in the age of Pinterest-perfect Airbnb rentals and WeWork community office hubs, techies and creatives are all about designer, modern amenities. This is where Roam comes in - a new platform that blends the two principles with aplomb.

For $500 per week (or $1,800 per month), you can dash to any of their upscale properties – from Bali to Buenos Aires and London or Miami – and have a place to call "home" for as long as you like. The concept is simple: for those who aren’t tied down to any single location, Roam enables users to travel the world and work while doing it - providing a private, furnished room and bathroom to live where you choose, for however long you choose to stay, and incorporating co-working spaces with like-minded individuals in the same vicinity.

This month, the company received $3.4 million in seed funding, which it will use to branch out to additional destinations around the globe. The platform reimagines the traditional concepts of home, space and work, offering a communal lifestyle solution to the ever-growing breed of freelancers with no need for a homebase.
