Noroc has traveled to all corners of the earth, including Moldova, to photograph natural beauty

Beauty can mean many things. It might refer to what’s inside, or one’s outward, physical appearance, or simply self-acceptance. It could be about a moment of silence, a stormy sea, a starry night. But to Romanian photographer, Mihaela Noroc, beauty means diversity. It means “keeping alive your origins and your culture” and staying true to yourself.

Since 2014, Noroc has made it her mission to capture beauty in its most natural, authentic form. With nothing but a backpack and her camera, she has travelled to over 60 countries, photographing women for her collection, The Atlas of Beauty.

While these photos serve to capture diverse, natural beauty around the world, Noroc also hopes that they serve as inspiration for women who strive to be themselves.

Editor's Note: Mihaela Noroc has responded to many comments on her Facebook about her tendency to photograph mostly slim, tall, young, beautiful women. Her response is that many of her portraits are that of normal people she bumps into on the street, most of whom are surprised she considers them "beautiful," and many of whom fall outside the accepted definition of beauty. Nonetheless, Noroc's collection is a statement on the beauty in diversity - not just ethnic diversity - but also diversity of body type and age. For this reason, Goodnet has updated this list to include several of Noroc's portraits that capture diversity in its many forms.
