These are no ordinary PJs: Punjammies, hand sewn by Indian women who were formerly enslaved in prostitution, are a source of financial and emotional sustainability for their producers. Often faced with very few options, this ambitious initiative works to help women support themselves and restore their hope and dignity. The project, helmed by the International Princess Project, oversees the production of the colorful Punjammies in India and their sale in the US. All profits go directly to recovery facilities in India that provide the women with occupational training, medical and emotional care, fair living wages and savings plans. [Source: Punjammies]
