How to Keep the Homeless Warm

The jacket that's also a sleeping bag [VIDEO]

Veronika Scott, a 23 year old college student, had a homework assignment: create a design to fill a need. Scott creatively embarked on designing a coat for the homeless that is both water and wind resistant, and doubles as a sleeping bag. Based in Detroit, the young mover and shaker has taken it a step further. She founded the nonprofit The Empowerment Plan that not only distributes these life-saving jackets, but trains and employees homeless women who produce the coats for those living on the streets. Inspiring, no?
