The film Racing Extinction had a novel debut at the 2015 Boulder International Film Festival. To raise awareness of the documentary and the plight of wildlife, a state-of-the-art electronic car equipped with a customized video system projected clips and images of threatened species on large-scale surfaces around Boulder. The topic of the documentary is the rapid rate of wildlife extinction, and is centered on a team of artists and activists who go undercover to expose those most active in the illegal trade of wildlife. The film is a project of the nonprofit the Oceanic Preservation Society (OPS) as part of their mission of creating film, photography and media, to inspire people to save the oceans.
The car, made specially for the film, stopped people in their tracks and heightened the awareness of the world that we live in, reinforcing the responsibility that humans have to safeguarding our wildlife counterparts.
