With property prices on a constant upward curve along with utilities like gas and electricity, a new trend is gaining traction in the United States and around the world: Tiny Houses. The movement advocates living simply in small homes, often fitted with environmentally-friendly and sustainable technology such as solar panels and summer/winter insulation.
While style varies, tiny houses tend to emphasize design over size, utilizing multi-functional furniture such as beds that fold into sofas to save space. The houses are also planned to use vertical space effectively, making for some very quirky and interesting looks.
As the movement develops, it seems there is a tiny house for everyone – whether you want to design and build it yourself from scratch, read a book or take a workshop and buy an architectural plan. Certainly goes to show that good things can come in small packages.
