John Lennon rose to fame as a founding member of legendary band the Beatles in the early 1960s, during which time he enjoyed worldwide recognition for his groundbreaking song writing skills. After the band disbanded in 1970 Lennon concentrated on his solo career and his peace activism along with wife Yoko Ono.
