Want to look and feel your best? Consider switching to natural skin care and hygiene products. You can easily find many affordable, healthy beauty products made entirely from all-natural ingredients.

You may have used the same beauty products for years without realizing that they contain harmful synthetic chemicals, like fragrances, dyes, and preservatives, that could irritate the skin or lead to health problems

The good news? You can easily find natural remedies and healthy beauty products that you may already have in your pantry. Shine with these plant-based skin care and hygiene ideas.

Use coconut oil for your “one-stop shop” natural product

This sweet-smelling tropical oil has countless beauty and health benefits, from cleaning teeth to moisturizing the skin and hair. With this one product alone, you can:

  • Reduce dental plaque and gum disease, just by swishing a tablespoon in the mouth. You can even make your own homemade toothpaste with coconut oil, baking soda, and peppermint.
  • Grow long, healthy hair by reducing protein loss when applied to locks
  • Remove eye makeup by breaking down ingredients in water resistant mascara and eye shadow
  • Moisturize dry lips and skin with coconut oil, rather than using lip balm or lotion
  • Reduce puffiness and dark circles under the eyes

Switch to natural deodorant made from essential oils

You may have been using a deodorant and antiperspirant blend to stay comfortable and smelling nice. But our bodies need to sweat naturally to regulate body temperature and to release toxins. Worse yet, many antiperspirants contain aluminum which, when placed directly on the armpit, may cause breast cancer or Alzheimer’s disease

It makes sense to allow the body to do what it does naturally. Skip the antiperspirant, which blocks your body from sweating. You’re better off switching to a natural deodorant, made with essential oils like lavender, sage, coconut, or lemon, so that you’ll still smell nice. You could also use patchouli, frankincense, or tea tree oil. And if you still find yourself sweating too much, consider making some healthy lifestyle changes or speaking to your doctor.
