Earth Hour 2015 took place on March 28 at 8:30pm, across 24 time zones and six continents. For that precious hour, millions of individuals, businesses, city skylines and landmarks tipped their hats to Mother Earth by switching off their lights for 60 minutes.
The grassroots movement was started in 2007 by parent organization WWF and aims to increase awareness about pressing environmental issues like climate change. Growing larger each year, 2015 saw 1,400 landmarks and almost 40 UNESCO World Heritage sites switch off their lights.
