A usually monotonous drive on the highway can be given a natural makeover if the artist Stephen Glassman’s vision comes to fruition. His project, Urban Air, is a transformation of existing urban billboards into suspended bamboo gardens.
Currently on Kickstarter and looking to launch the first billboard on the Los Angeles freeway, the endeavor aims to place a garden in the sky. Urban Air will be technologically sophisticated, comprised of a wifi-enabled green billboard with live bamboo, water and climate monitoring technology.
Replacing the urban jungle of advertisements with beautiful pieces of nature would be quite the welcome change. If the project receives funding, the billboards will be implemented throughout major international cities; giving a literal meaning to the phrase, “the sky’s the limit.”  [Source: Urban Air]
