In the hectic rhythm of daily life, learning how to find moments of tranquility becomes increasingly vital for maintaining your overall wellbeing. Amidst the chaos, there exists a simple yet profound sanctuary – your bath and shower routines. Beyond their functional aspects, these moments offer a gateway to relaxation and mindfulness. Here are a few elements that you can incorporate into your daily routine that will enhance your self-care and bring you restoration and calm

Upgrade your shower routine
According to Everyday Health, using essential oils in the shower boosts your wellbeing, as the steam of a shower increases their effectiveness without needing to use a diffuser. Simply sprinkle some essential oils in the corner of your shower and enjoy!

With essential oils, it is important to note that the oils have varying benefits. For example, a study shows that strong scents like peppermint, patchouli and jasmine are a great way to give you an energy boost if you need it. You might want to add these essential oils to your pre-work morning shower as a natural way to help you wake up and get the most out of your day.

Another great item to consider using is waterproof speakers. According to the The Every Girl blog, relaxation occurs when you get to indulge all of your senses, including hearing. Adding some of your favorite soft tunes to your shower or bath routine is a great and simple way to up your self care game. You can even make yourself a “shower playlist” and include some fancy spa music, piano music or any other music that you would enjoy when relaxing.

So, now that you are thinking of which items to add for your ideal bath and shower, what else can you be doing to enhance your self care while showering?

Making the most of your shower
According to Health, the ideal temperature when showering is between 98 and 105 degrees. The reason for this is you don't want the water to be too hot and dehydrate or irritate your skin. Some even suggest that short cool showers can have great health benefits. But when looking to relax and enjoy yourself, nothing beats a hot delicious bath or shower. And these hot showers can have their own health benefits too. Healthline lists benefits to hot showers that include relief from respiratory symptoms, muscle relaxation and help with blemishes. Perhaps you might want to do some of both in order to enjoy the benefits from both cold and hot showers.

Besides the temperature of the water, another thing to consider is the ambiance when taking a bath or shower. Background music is sure to add a lot when it comes to the ambiance department. Another great way to do this is by paying attention to the lighting in your bathroom. When you turn down the lights and maybe even go all out and add some candles, it creates the perfect ambiance for a relaxing shower.

Everyday rituals can become pillars of self-care. By incorporating special elements into your bath and shower experiences, you can elevate them to moments of rejuvenation, relaxation, and mindfulness. In these fleeting moments of escape, you can find the opportunity to center yourself, restore calm, and connect with the present.
