When Adam Braun was traveling through India, he asked a young boy on the street what he wanted most in the world; the boy answered "a pencil." Braun was quick to fulfill the request and realizing the power of this small act,  he was inspired to set up Pencils of Promise (PoP) - a global project that aims to give the gift of education to millions of underprivileged children. The nonprofit organization takes a hands-on approach to increasing educational opportunities in the developing world with various projects to build schools and establish learning initiatives in countries such as Laos, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Ghana. As part of its forwarding-thinking “for purpose” approach, PoP thinks long-term by investing in quality teacher training programs and student evaluations.
PoP has many celebrity friends and supporters, including teen heartthrob Justin Bieber who was the face of a very special project called Schools4All that saw students in the United States coming together to raise funds to educate children around the world.
