Jamie Oliver Has Ignited a Food Revolution [VIDEO]

The famous chef is committed to providing healthy meals for children and has initiated a petition to get the world on board.

Jamie Oliver has long been a proponent of healthy eating, and now the popular British chef is spearheading a global campaign to put compulsory practical food education on every school’s curriculum with Food Revolution Day. The name is inspired by his popular TV show Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution where Oliver traveled to schools in the United States to gauge their awareness of healthy eating. The Food Revolution Day campaign is petitioning to introduce to schools mandatory classes about nutrition, where food comes from and how to prepare and eat healthy meals. This comes as a reaction to the skyrocketing cases of diet-related diseases affecting children – all of which are preventable when children and their families are given the right educational tools to healthy eating and access to fresh food.

Oliver teamed up with famous faces like Paul McCartney, Hugh Jackman and singer Ed Sheeran to create a catchy tune that is spreading the Food Revolution word. They are oh-so-very-close to reaching their goal of 1,500,000 signatures on a petition that is aimed to convince the governments of G20 countries to make food education in schools mandatory. The official kickoff was on May 15, with folks from around the world signing the petition and posting and creating buzz on their social media outlets.
If this cause speaks to you, there are a bunch of ways to get involved from becoming a Food Revolution Ambassador, to preparing healthy meals via recipes on the site or downloading Oliver’s free app YOU that shares daily microactions that you complete with a picture.
