It doesn’t get much better than The Dog Cafe, where patrons can now sip their espresso in the company of shelter dogs. The Los Angeles coffee shop, which opened earlier this month, brings in rescue dogs from the South L.A. Animal Shelter for patrons to cuddle and play with - and, hopefully, adopt.

But there’s more to The Dog Cafe than the guaranteed cuteness and slobbery kisses. According to the initiative’s website, “The Dog Cafe’s mission is to revolutionize dog adoption by reinventing the way people connect with rescues who need homes.” As a comfortable and welcoming space for patrons and puppies alike, the cafe offers an alternative to bleak, overcrowded shelters.

Similar to other programs that help make shelter dogs more adoptable, The Dog Cafe aims to build trust between pooch and person. Add coffee to the mix, and you’re sure to find your next best friend.
