Good Deeds Day is fast approaching - just two more weeks until March 25, which will see a slew of organizations and individuals join together for projects focused on doing good and giving of oneself for the benefit of others.
Making good deeds last longer than a single day, this website, in collaboration with MTV, goes social, calling for good-doers all over the world to share their acts of kindness in text, image and video.
People from have been sharing their moving stories: We chuckled with the girl who helped her friend beat the blues by talking her into laughing it all away, and were impressed by Shedrack from Nigeria, who helped out a woman who was hurt in a car crash, without even telling her who he was. Lastly, we are in awe of Deborah: this Belgium-based woman donated eggs via IVF (!) to help her close friend conceive - she really gives of herself in the most literal and physical way. The following story, shared by Anthony from the UK, is so moving in its simplicity, we wanted to bring it in his own words:
"I noticed a little yellow book lying on the floor when walking through my local town one morning. I picked it up and inside revealed the name and details of a 74 year old man. The little book seemed so simple but yet was so precious to this man indicating the times when he needed to take his next Morphine medication. So I did the good deed of driving to his house to return it to him, which led to a sense of awe due to his facial expression of relief.”
