Jewish American singer and songwriter Matisyahu is a reggae vocalist, beatboxer, and alternative rock musician. He is known for his spiritual lyrics, set to his unique musical blend. Among his most famous hits is the song “One Day,” a song of hope for the future of the world. In an interview about this song, Matisyahu said, “It is an anthem of hope with a big beat, the kind of song that makes you bob your head and open your heart at the same time.”

A song of unity, peace, and hope for a better future, it is not surprise that Koolulam chose it for a unique performance. Koolulam is an Israeli “social-musical initiative, aimed at bringing together people from all corners of the diverse, multicultural Israeli society.” They host massive events, in which they bring people together from across Israel’s social and cultural spectrum to simply sing together.

On February 14, 2018, Koolulam once again broke down barriers, this time in Haifa, Israel. Koolulam brought together a group of 3,000 strangers to sing a beautiful rendition of Matisyahu’s “One Day,” a message of peace and coexistence, in three languages.

In the video, you see people from all walks of life - Jewish, Muslim, Christian, some religious, some secular. It is evident that the participants are moved by this experience, and it is truly emotional to watch.

Each person comes from a different background, from a different religion, with a different language, and different beliefs. What unites all of them, is the hope for a better future and their powerful expression of this dream through song.
