Firefighters Free Kitten Stuck in Soda Machine | A happy ending for one lucky feline.

Kittens like to explore and sometimes they get themselves stuck in small places and need help getting out. That’s why firefighters have often been called to rescue them from inside walls and tight spaces. One adorable gray kitten actually got stuck in a Pepsi vending machine in a Walmart store.

Morristown Fire Department to the rescue
Lindsay Russel, an employee of the Morristown, Tennessee store was on her lunch break and heard meows coming from one of the vending machines, according to WVLT8.

“I tried all through my lunch and my last break to get her. I tried recruiting coworkers to help me get her, and none of us could do it,” Russell told WVLT8. That’s when she called the Morristown Fire Department.

“We could hear it meowing as soon as we came up. We knew it was in there and kind of stressed out,” Morristown fireman Doug Allison said.

The firefighters then unplugged the vending machine and removed the back panel but they still could not see where the kitten was. But they persevered and found another opening and coaxed the kitten out.

The rescue took about 10 minutes. “If we can help save a life, animal or human, we’ll do what we can do,” Allison said.

Later, the firefighting heroes joked about naming the kitten Pepsi. After its ordeal, Russel decided to adopt the kitten and give her a good home.

Why do cats get stuck in small spaces?
Cats can do the strangest things but there actually is a reason why they go into small spaces and frequently get stuck, according to The Mercury News. It’s because cats actually feel safe and secure in tight places.

Cats are instinctive and they will run and hide if they feel threatened or stressed. That’s why you will find them in boxes, closets, shopping bags, or in the case of one frightened kitten, a soda machine.

While the reasons why the little feline went into the Walmart store may never be known. The story has a happy ending and Pepsi now has a forever home.
