Hurricane Sandy may be over, but hundreds of thousands still suffer the repercussions. Want to help out? Several organizations are running relief projects, and may need your help. Here's what you can do. 

1. OCCUPY SANDY


WHAT THEY DO An organization focused on relief efforts post Hurricane Sandy: they coordinate supplies, volunteers and help efforts.

2.AIRBNB


WHAT THEY DO In collaboration with the City of New York, Airbnb now connects between people who can provide free housing with the people in need - some 100,000 people are still stranded.
WHAT YOU CAN DO If you’re able to offer a clean bed for a guest in need - Airbnb paves the path for real help.

3.NY TECH RESPONDS


WHAT THEY DO The 28,000-member group of technology professionals provides computer-related services to Sandy survivors - setting up local businesses’ computers and networks.
WHAT YOU CAN DO If you have technological skills, volunteer to help.

4.BAY RIDGE CARES KITCHEN


WHAT THEY DO This group of warm hearted people makes meals for the thousands that are still bereft of electricity.
WHAT YOU CAN DO Tune in to calls for volunteers and donations on their Facebook page.

5.SEW FOR SANDY


WHAT THEY DO A Huffington Post initatiave allows you to put your crafty flair to use and create homemade garments to keep kids and babies warm and dry this winter: mittens, blankets, sweaters and caps are all much needed.
WHAT YOU CAN DO Make quality garments for kiddies or donate money.

6.AMERICARES


WHAT THEY DO The disaster relief nonprofit delivers aid, supplies and food to emergency survivors. They now dedicate tremendous efforts to Hurricane Sandy relief.

8. I STILL LOVE NEW YORK HURRICANE T SHIRT


WHAT THEY DO Designer Sebastian Errazuriz’s created this t-shirt while being unable to reach his storm-paralyzed studio. The t-shirt is sold to generate funds for Sandy relief.
