This is a good time to use the food you have at home in your pantry like pasta and canned goods to make nourishing tasty home-cooked meals. Canned good have come a long way and are much healthier to us than you probably think.

With some advance meal planning and creative recipes, you can and your family can eat well for weeks. So dig deep into your pantry and pull out those diced tomatoes, cans of vegetables, tuna, pasta, and whatever else you find and turn them into meals that will please even the pickiest child. And, to keep a supply of spices on hand, you can try out your green thumb by growing an indoor herb garden.

Quick and Easy Chili

Nothing warms up your kitchen and belly than a pot of chili bubbling on the stove. This recipe from Allrecipies can be made with cans of  diced tomatoes, kidney beans, pinto beans, and tomato sauce. You can make it spicy or mild and it can be made with beef or vegetarian.

Chickpea Nuggets

This recipe from Kitchn calls for two main ingredients, a can of chick peas and rolled oats. Together they make a complete protein. You can eat them like a falafel in a pita with hummus, tahina, and a chopped salad or you can use them instead of chicken nuggets with homemade baked fries and a green salad.

Corn and Black Bean Quinoa Salad

Want a nutritious and easy lunch idea? Just combine canned corn and black beans with quinoa, spices and a few fresh ingredients with this recipe from The Daily Meal. This is a tasty treat for all ages.

Five Minute Minestrone

The Daily Mail has the easiest soup recipe ever. Open cans of chopped or whole tomatoes, vegetable stock, pasta, mixed vegetables and you can use pesto and cheese from your fridge. Cook for a few minutes and presto, almost instant hearty and delicious meal

Tuna Noodle Casserole

Making tuna casserole from Campbells soup is an all American favorite but any cream of mushroom soup will work. All you need are cans of mushroom soup, tuna, peas (canned or frozen), egg noodles, bread crumbs and butter and milk from the fridge.
