Israeli Startup Uses AI and Smart Collar to Monitor Pet Health
The collar provides important health information that was previously unavailable.
The bond between people and their pets is strong and so is the desire to take the best possible care of these furry family members. However, taking care of your pet’s health isn’t always straightforward since they cannot tell you when they are not feeling well and instinctively, pets hide when they are ill.
Now, an Israeli startup, PetPace has an innovative solution to helping care for your pets health through AI technology in the form of a smart collar, according to a press release from the company.
Introducing the Smart Collar
PetPace, which was founded in 2012 in Shefayim, recently launched the newest version of an AI smart collar for dogs and cats that monitors pet health in real time. PetPace’s V3.0 can revolutionize pet health care through 24/7 scanning and access to veterinary telehealth and telemedicine.
“This isn’t just a new version — it’s a colossal transformation in pet healthcare,” Lior Abraham, general manager of PetPace said in the press release. “PetPace V3.0 doesn’t just monitor — it thinks, learns, and protects, helping prevent unnecessary suffering and improving quality of life and longevity.”
Over 10 years of clinical research went into the development of the AI smart collar. While other monitoring systems exist, they rely on movement but that may not be enough.
“Activity alone is insufficient for assessing health,” said Dr. Asaf Dagan, DVM, co-founder and chief veterinary scientist. “Only real-time physiological data — like temperature, pulse, heart rate variability, and respiration — can accurately reveal what’s happening inside the animal’s body. It’s an exceptionally valuable tool in the hands of the vet and the pet owners in improving the health and well-being of pets.”

How Does it Work?
Once the smart collar is in place, data collection begins, reported i24 News. The information that is collected is analyzed by AI and a wellness score is generated that is a comprehensive picture of your pet’s health and well-being.
The app allows you to track things like your pet’s heartbeat , pain level, or daily activity. If the app is green, everything is normal, red means there is a problem. This information can then be shared with your vet or through access through the telehealth component of the app.
According to the YouTube video from i24News, the collar looks similar to any other pet collar and it is waterproof. The collar is also being used by veterinarians after treatment, and by researchers worldwide. But even more importantly, PetPace helps to strengthen the bond between people and their fur babies by helping owners understand their pet’s health and how to better take care of them.
