We've covered quite a few crowdfunding platforms, but Sevenly stands out for its funkiness and cool vibe.
Sevenly creates campaigns that alternate weekly, offering one t shirt per cause for sale. The tops, made in California, are sold online, and for each purchase - $7 are donated to a charity. Causes are campaigned for just one week, after which the t-shirt designs - always with a hip flair - are gone, and replaced by new ones, sold for a new charity. For instance, this week's charity campaigned by Sevenly is a partnership with Forward Edge International to help rebuild homes for Hurricane Sandy victims with a goal to raise $30,000.
Note that Sevenly is not exclusively about material donations; you can also donate your social media influence by giving a shout-out to a goal on Facebook or Twitter. Here's to the groovy innovation of crowdfunding made fun - and effective. [Source: Sevenly]
