Earth Hour is fast approaching! On Saturday, March 23 at 8:30pm, millions of people across the world will switch off their electricity for an hour. The global movement began in 2007 with WWF-Australia in an effort to highlight climate change action and legislation. Since then, the event has gained steam with an estimated 7,000 cities and towns in 152 countries and territories taking part.
Last year Earth Hour started their creative YouTube campaign, I Will If You Will, in which everyday folks and celebrities perform a dare in exchange for eco-friendly acts. One example is actress Jessica Alba and the founders of the Honest Company, who will let Alba’s kids dress them up for work one day if 10,000 people commit to using non-toxic products in their homes.
Earth Hour is an important reminder to be aware of our impact on the environment, and to try and constantly dare ourselves to take care of the planet on a daily basis. [Source: Earth Hour]
