If you are looking for musical talent in New York City, the best place to start is the subway. That was exactly where composer Ljova went to find a diverse representation of performers to take part in a live experiment: to simultaneously perform a musical piece via wifi. Stationed at nine different subway stops, Ljova brought together a dream team of performers - from bass and percussion to strings and vocals - to perform his original piece Signal Strength. With a combination of smartphones and laptops all connected back to Ljova, the talented buskers took their positions as the maestro signalled for the performance to begin. The unexpected concert fascinated and wowed passersby as the first NYC wifi orchestra made their debut. Here’s hoping for an encore!
