Google’s Competition to Find the Most Innovative Nonprofits in the World

Meet the charities vying for the chance to make a difference with their cutting-edge technology initiatives

Tech giant Google is a household name when it comes to anything internet-related, but the company is also intent on using their popularity and influence for doing good. Their recently launched Google Impact Challenge is a global competition that encourages and rewards nonprofits who meld innovation with social good. Charities in the UK, Australia, India, Brazil and San Francisco's Bay Area can be in the running to win a sizable financial grant to implement their technology-based ideas to make a more significant social impact. Initiatives range from a network of motorbike science labs educating rural kids to SMS-based outreach for prenatal care and early childhood development. In each country, ten of the best projects are selected and receive technical support from Google. Once the finalists are chosen, the general public can get involved by voting for their favorite project, with the top four receiving a grant worth $500,000.
