Who doesn’t love a colorful bouquet of flowers? In fact, a study conducted by Rutgers University’s Department of Psychology shows that flowers can actually make you happier and in a better mood. Buying a gorgeous bouquet or going on a flower picking trip can do wonders for you, but perhaps other types of flowers can also do the trick.

Paper flower bouquets, according to Prima, are trending on social media right now. Crafters and diy-ers are posting pictures and videos of their creations on their platforms of choice, and the colors and variety are super fun to scroll through and look at. Whether you want to enjoy looking at these works of art, purchase some or even try to make some yourself, the sky's the limit when it comes to paper flower bouquets.

Paper flowers never die
Don’t you sometimes wish flowers would last forever? Especially if it was gifted to you or has sentimental value, a flower bouquet can be difficult to let go of or to throw out when their time is up. Of course, you might want to find other uses or ideas of what to do with your dead flowers, such as making a dried flower bouquet or potpourri, as recommended by Happy Sprout

There are other types of flowers, like ones made out of plastic or paper that you actually don’t have to repurpose and can leave as is practically forever. The Financial Times explains that this is actually part of the financial appeal of paper flowers. Time does take its toll on paper things, they say, but it may even sometimes add to its charm.

Paper flowers as a hobby
You might have seen the trend on social media, and if you haven't, you might want to now. According to the NYT, some crafty creators like Jessie Beaumont got into creating paper flowers and are still going at it. Beaumont started making flowers in 2020 as a hobby and then turned it into a business in 2021. She creates poppies, roses, and other beautiful flowers mostly out of crepe paper and as many sustainable elements as possible. And it’s not about replacing actual flowers, she says. It’s about capturing their beauty.

Other creators such as Emmeli Kimhi also took to selling their flowers, while many others enjoy sharing their work on social media or simply doing it as a hobby and an outlet for themselves. If making paper flowers sounds like something you’d like to try out, there are so many options! You can check out step by step tutorials on YouTube, like this one by Góc nhỏ Handmade, or this one by Inha Craft TV.

The most important thing is to enjoy the process! And remember, flowers, even paper ones, will bring beauty and more joy to your life.
