An Urban Ballet on the Streets of New York [VIDEO] | Seven rows of seven yellow taxicab chairs sit in the middle of Times Square. And then what?

In the middle of Times Square, seven rows of seven bright yellow chairs are arranged like theatre seating on a closed-off section of Broadway… and the show begins. Some 300,000-400,000 cross the busy intersection on a daily basis, and each has a cameo in this captivating two-minute clip - even if they don’t stop and take a break on the stage. The movement and rearrangement of the chairs is mesmerizing to watch, as the flow of pedestrians inhabit the public space and shape it to their needs.
Even the eclectic chairs have a story in this ballet - each of them reclaimed from the streets of New York City, repaired and restored, and made new with a coat of taxicab yellow paint.
Produced by Bade Stageberg Cox Architecture and sponsored by Times Square Arts for NYCxDesign week, the clip is a stunning example of street theatre, bringing art to the people and vice versa.
