A new TikTok trend has captured the hearts of people all over the internet. According to USA Today, it involves men calling up their friends and showing them extra care with two simple words.
The “Good Night” TikTok Trend
Men are now calling each other to say “good night.” While it initially could have started out as a lighthearted joke, the wholesome trend has since taken on a deeper meaning. It’s putting a spotlight on the importance of emotional openness and the value of male friendship.
In one wholesome TikTok video, Mikhail Lavrinovich calls a bunch of his friends to say goodnight, USA Today reports. While his friend first responds “Are you joking?” he later says “Well, thanks, man, I appreciate that. I don't remember the last time somebody said good night to me.”
Another TikTok video shows the power of this trend to bring men together, according to PopSugar. In the clip, which captured over two million views, one man calls his friends to wish them goodnight. After his friend initially answers with “What do you mean?” he reiterates that he just wanted to call to say goodnight. In a moment that tugs at the heartstrings, his friend says “Alright man, well, goodnight. That's really sweet of you. I hope you have a good night.”

The Importance of Bringing Men Together
Importantly, the touching trend is sparking the conversation about friendships among men. The trend illustrates how reaching out can have a powerful impact when it comes to combating men’s loneliness.
According to a new Gallup poll, one in four men in the U.S. under the age of 35 report feeling lonely, Fortune reports. Loneliness was declared to be a national epidemic in the United States. It’s been found to have effects including an increased risk of mental health disorders including depression and anxiety, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
However, the trend may be exactly what the world needs. It shows how reaching out to check in on a friend can make a difference in their day, and how simple acts can bridge connection and change lives.
