In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $75 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 375 pediatric cancer research projects nationally

Bicycles for Humanity

To this end Bicycles for Humanity developed the methodologies and logistics to collect bicycles in developed countries and to transport them to under developed countries, and the methodologies and logistics to receive the bicycles in those countries and to train the local population to maintain and distribute the bicycles.

We do this with a holistic development approach geared toward inclusion, using tools like microfinance, education, healthcare, legal services, community empowerment and more. Our work now touches the lives of an estimated 126 million people, with staff and BRAC-trained entrepreneurs numbering in the hundreds of thousands.
BridgingApps
http://www.BridgingApps.orgBridgingApps.org is a program of Easter Seals Greater Houston that provides resources, education, and information on apps and mobile devices to help people with disabilities target and improve skills and reach their highest levels of physical, social, and cognitive development. Given the rising number of apps on the market and the diverse skills of children and adults with special needs, their goal is to provide caregivers and professionals with the best resources for choosing apps to enhance everyday life for people with disabilities and sharing their successes with others.
In collaboration with speech language pathologists and occupational therapists, they created an app review system that focuses on skills rather than age, diagnosis or developmental level to help improve outcomes for a person with a disability. BridgingApps relies on professionals who work with people with disabilities as well as crowdsource user experiences to constantly review and update their database of over 3,500 apps.
