The Lancaster Food Company

Inspired by a bounty of local produce and a disproportion of local area poverty, The Lancaster Food Company’s mission is to create extraordinary food sourced from nearby organic farmers and hire people out of poverty into thriving-wage jobs. The only certified organic food company in Lancaster, PA, the company’s mission includes paying better than living wages and hiring people who might otherwise have difficulty getting work because of personal histories, education, literacy, or language barriers. 

Future Feeders

Future Feeders is growing the next generation of farmers. We want to engage young people in agriculture and develop pathways for skills development and long term happy, viable and sustainable careers in food production and land management. We are committed to ethical land stewardship and believe that this will be an essential foundation for successful food production now and into the future.

First Generation Farmers is a non-profit community farm in California’s East Bay Area. We demonstrate all aspects of sustainable and organic
agriculture to promote new generations of farmers.

HarvestGeek

The core ideal which we believe at HarvestGeek is that the economics of large-scale industrial agriculture is not a sustainable proposition thus the need for efficient, tested and reproducible methods of small-scale food production. We'd like to see communities producing the bulk of their own food. The benefits to this we believe are many.
By empowering the local food movement, communities will benefit from new employment opportunities, money spent on food will stay in the community, fossil fuel use due to food transportation will drop off sharply, impoverished areas access to (healthy) food will increase, and we will be seeding a new generation with an appreciation for food, their health, and their connection to the Earth.

Back to the Roots is an organization on a mission to take back our food and take back our health by creating that make it as easy as possible for people to grow their own food at home. The BTTR Grow-Your-Own Mushroom Garden and Home Aquaponics Garden encourage fresh, healthy eating as well as learning about where food comes from and why what we choose to eat is crucial to our health. 

Real Time Farms

Real Time Farms is a crowd-sourced nationwide food guide. Everyone, from farmers to foodies, can share photos and information about food: how it was grown, who grew it and where to find it. We all deserve to know where our food comes from, and Real Time Farms enables you to trace your food back to the farm, so you can find food you feel good about eating.

Farming the City

CITIES' Farming the City pilot project has been running in Amsterdam since November 2010, bringing city dwellers to explore inspirational ways of producing, storing, cooking, preserving, distributing and sharing food. 

Gotham Greens

Gotham Greens’ first greenhouse facility, located on a rooftop in Greenpoint, Brookyn. Our state of the art rooftop greenhouses combine advanced horticultural and engineering techniques to optimize crop production, crop quality, and production efficiency. The climate controlled facility will grow premium quality produce, year-round. Gotham Greens  provides locally grown vegetables and herbs, even in the winter months, when local supply is typically low.

The Urban Homestead Project

Surrounded by urban sprawl and just a short distance from a freeway, the Urban Homestead project is a family operated and highly productive city farm. It is also a successful, real-life working model for sustainable agriculture and eco living in urban areas. 

Truck Farm

Truck Farm is a mobile garden education project founded in Brooklyn, NY. Director Ian Cheney's other projects include King Corn, The Greening of Southie, and The City Dark.
