Winter can be magical. The light is softer, the weather is cooler, and it’s the perfect time to slow down and rejoice in the warmth of a blanket. Winter can be a reminder that resting is not just a luxury, but also a necessity that your body craves.

This may cause people to naturally need more sleep during that time. Making Winter Naps Extra Restful
Your environment can have a huge impact on your ability to sleep. But creating the perfect conditions for a nap is possible, TIME reports. Napping on your bed is more conducive to sleep than trying to take a nap in the living room. If you don’t have access to your bed, try to lie horizontal — whether it’s in your car or office. Try to be in a place that isn’t noisy or use earplugs if needed. Using a white noise machine can also do wonders.

Make sure to remove light whenever possible to improve your sleep quality. This may include turning off your favorite show, closing the blinds, or putting on a sleep mask. Smell can also set the mood for a good snooze. One great tip is using lavender. Sniffing on the floral scent when you’re drifting off can help you sleep better. 

Taking winter naps can feel like a simple choice, but it can bring big benefits. They offer warmth in the cold and are a slow and peaceful reminder to take care of yourself. This winter, give yourself permission to rest. Close your eyes and wrap your body in a fluffy comforter. Your mind and body will thank you for it.
