This year, Good Deeds Day — the international day of doing good for others — will be celebrated on April 12, and there is still time for you to participate and make a positive impact in the world.
But what makes this day so important? Good Deeds Day, a peak event of year-round doing good activities, was started by businesswoman and philanthropist Shari Arison in 2007. On this special day, millions of people from 115 countries across the globe are expected to volunteer and do good.
You can find inspiration from one of these last minute ideas or get inspired by past projects from around the world to help you plan your own or to join one near you.
Save a Life Through Donating Blood
Giving blood or plasma helps to save lives. When you donate blood, make sure you sign up for reminders to give again. You can also donate bone marrow if you match a person who needs a transplant. Another way to save lives is to sign up to be an organ donor. These are some of the kindest acts you can do.

Start a Diaper Drive
Giving canned goods to food pantries or running a food drive are two common Good Deeds Day projects. But instead of collecting tuna and pasta, you can organize a diaper drive. For people who are economically distressed, they often have to choose between buying food or diapers. Donate the diapers you collect to a local diaper or food bank near you.

Collect and Donate Art Supplies for Kids in Homeless Shelters
Art supplies like crayons, markers, coloring books, and other crafts are loved by children of all ages. You can start a drive at work or just pick up a supply at a local dollar store. If there are no homeless shelters close by, you can bring them to a public daycare center or kindergarten.

Help Save the Planet
Making a positive difference by helping the environment is a big part of what Good Deeds Day is about. You can do your part by planting a tree, taking part in a cleanup at a park or beach, or working in a community garden. If you live in an urban area, you can recycle or pick up any litter you find. Helping to make the planet a better place is good for everyone.
