Jumpstart is out to break their annual record of having the most amount of people read the same book on the same day – can they do it again this year? The event, Read for the Record, takes place on October 21 and invites children and adults to read the funny kid’s book Bunny Cakes.
Last year, 2,462,860 youngsters and adults took part, and Jumpstart is hoping to raise the bar by mobilizing even more youth to participate. Read for the Record is Jumpstart’s premiere national campaign, and part of their larger mission to make sure every child in America enters kindergarten prepared and ready to succeed.
To spread the word, the literacy nonprofit enlisted the help of none other than actor Josh Duhamel who, as their celebrity ambassador, uses his humor and charm to get folks excited about the event - as can be seen in the video below.
If you would like to join the millions of folks reading on October 21, fill out the pledge form and get your hands on a copy of Bunny Cakes. For those looking to dive a bit deeper, download these free activity guides and coloring pages that correspond to the story. Happy reading!
