While Valentine’s Day is usually thought of as a day for romance, that definition is only one way that the holiday celebrates love. It is also a day for parents to express their love for their children, to express love for friends, and to enjoy some self-love too.

Valentine’s Day means much more than just heart-shaped candy and red roses, according to TODAY.  The holiday is about loving the one you are with and if you are flying solo, it means loving yourself.

“Consider showing yourself some love,” Phyllis Ginsberg, M.A., MFT and author, told TODAY “What gives Valentine's Day meaning is unique to you.”  You are truly in the driver’s seat.

You may be thinking about sitting home and ignoring the day. Or may have trouble deciding what to do. No problem. With the holiday falling on the weekend in 2025, the skies the limit. Here are seven suggestions on how to celebrate Valentine’s Day on your own.

Enjoy a Pampering Spa Day

Enjoy a day of relaxation and self-care at a spa. In fact nothing screams self-love more than a massage, facial, and all the amenities, suggests Cosmopolitan. If a spa is out of your budget, you can create one at home. Relax in a bubble bath, DIY your own facial, enjoy a delicious smoothie, and do some calming yoga poses.

You can even add some affirmations or inspirational quotes to your vision board. Then hang it in a place where you can view it to keep you motivated and moving forward.
