Vegan non-dairy products have come a long way since the original soy milk. Now you can get milk made from oats, almonds, rice, and coconut. There are a myriad of choices to drink, use in coffee and even to cook with. Now an Israeli tech start-up Remilk will allow consumers to enjoy a new category of cow-free milk.
The New Milk, according to a press release from the start-up, is a result of a partnership between Remilk and Gad Dairies – a leading dairy brand in Israel – and is being launched now in cafes and restaurants and will be available in supermarket aisles in early 2026.
“We founded Remilk with a clear vision – to create a better, healthier, and tastier world through real milk made without cows, Aviv Wolf, founder and CEO of Remilk said in the press release.
About The New Milk
Remilk, founded in Ness Ziona in 2019, developed its lab made milk over five years. The new technology allows for the production of real dairy products sans cows. That’s because unlike plant substitutes, the proteins in The New Milk are identical to the proteins found in dairy. The protein has been approved by the US FDA, Israel’s Ministry of Health, Canada, and other locations.
These proteins were created by manipulating a single-cell microbe to express a protein that is genetically identical to the proteins in milk, reported The Times of Israel. In fact, the proteins make The New Milk match regular milks taste, texture, and functionality.
The product is free of lactose, cholesterol, as well as the antibiotics and growth hormones found in cow’s milk. The New Milk also contains 75 percent less sugar and is fortified with calcium.
Remilk’s co-founder and CTO Ori Cohavi told The Times of Israel, “It foams like regular milk, it tastes like milk, and behaves like milk, whether it is used for cooking or other applications. This is something that you cannot do with other products that are currently available in the alternative dairy market.”
What’s Next?
In January 2026, three percent milk and vanilla flavored milk will hit supermarket shelves. While a Barista milk is already available in cafes, additional products are expected to be available soon. That’s because the proteins can also be used in a variety of other food products like Yogurt, cream cheese, and ice cream.
The company is also looking to expand to the US and other markets. This is important because the non-dairy milk market continues to grow.
Whether people are going animal-free out of moral conviction, health reasons, or to reduce their environmental impact, products like The New Milk will become more popular and their use more widespread. Now you can have your milk without the cow.
