Every year children put on costumes and go out trick-or-treating on Halloween. On October 31, they go door to door filling their bags or plastic pumpkins full of candy.

But candy is loaded with sugar and fats, and according to Parade, the person handing out the treats has no way of knowing if some of the children have allergies or sensitivities. That’s why giving out non-candy alternatives is a safe and healthy alternative.

There are a myriad of Halloween themed items that can be given out to trick-or-treaters or put in party goody bags. Goodnet has compiled a list of spooky alternatives that kids and parents will love.

Halloween Spooky Stickers

Kids love stickers and they can put them just about anywhere from laptops, to water bottles or notebooks. Stickers come in a variety of styles including puffy, 3-D, or color your own. You can even pair them with a notepad.

Scary Bubbles

Younger children really love hand-held bubbles and there is a large variety of Halloween themed ones to give out. Blowing bubbles can keep little ones entertained when older kids want to keep going and long after Halloween is over. Bubbles are fun anytime of the year.

Eerie Glow Sticks

Glow sticks or bracelets are a great treat to give out on Halloween. Besides being fun, glow sticks are practical too especially if your community trick-or-treats after dark. Kids can wear them, or you can wrap them on a stroller or wagon. Adding visibility on dark streets is a safer way to trick-or-treat.

Frighteningly Fruity Drink Boxes

Walking around the neighborhood can make kids thirsty and not all will carry water bottles with them. The Wellness Mama blog suggests that giving out organic drink boxes can help kids quench their thirst on their way.

Magical Miniature Flashlights

Another practical handout is a mini flashlight. Kids can use them while trick-or-treating after dark or anytime. Some mini flashlights are Halloween themed, come on a keychain, or are brightly colored. Multi packs are available at party supply stores and make great party favors.

Creepy Modeling Dough

Modeling dough is a gift that keeps on giving long after Halloween is over, according to Parade. Kids can use their imagination and create scary Halloween figures, creepy bugs, or almost anything else. Modeling dough can be reused over and over again as long as it doesn’t dry out.

Terrifying Temporary Tattoos

Temporary tattoos are something that kids of all ages love. Scary Halloween tattoos, especially glow-in-the-dark ones are perfect to give to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. And the best part is that they can be washed off.
