Celebrating Good Deeds Day Week in Brazil

18 Jun 2026 | By Erica Jackson
From caring for animals to bringing public spaces to life, volunteers made a difference across the country.

This year, hundreds of people across Brazil united to give back on Good Deeds Day 2026. While the event is typically celebrated in one day, this year’s Good Deeds Day in Brazil spanned a whole week.

Volunteers and dozens of organizations came together for the global day of doing good. In total, 688 volunteers participated in activities that benefited over 1,100 people and 500 animals. Whether through supporting animals, improving public spaces, organizing donations, or caring for local communities, participants showed how small acts of kindness can create a lasting impact.

Helping Animals and the Environment
One initiative that made a positive difference during Brazil’s Good Deeds Day Week 2026 was a program organized by Instituto Ampara Animal, where participants cared for animals sheltered at CasAdote in São Paulo. Volunteers took dogs on walks and supported spay and neuter drives that benefited more than 500 animals.

The non-governmental organization Bota pra Girar also brought 120 volunteers together in Rio de Janeiro for a cleanup and planting drive at Pedra do Arpoador — an iconic landmark. The project helped revitalize a beloved public space while inspiring community involvement and environmental action.

Giving Back to the Community
SEFRAS (Franciscan Solidarity Service) also held a Fraternity Work Drive, which brought together volunteers for donation organization, communal meals, and community leadership. The initiative focused on listening, welcoming, and creating meaningful connections between people. Throughout the drive, the distinction between those giving help and those receiving it began to fade. “One of the volunteers said, moved: ‘I thought I was coming to give, but I’m learning so much more here,’” said Vinícius de Menezes Fabreau, a project coordinator at SEFRAS. Other efforts included the non-governmental organization NAIA holding a community work drive in São Paulo, with volunteers organizing garden spaces and carrying out plantings in the organization’s outdoor area. Activities were also centered on supporting children and the elderly.

A Week Dedicated to Care and Connection
The Instituto Hondatar in São Paulo was behind a week-long drive of love and care that benefited over 200 people. The organization carried out activities to help children, the mothers it serves, and the institute’s physical space. Initiatives included revitalizing a library, sorting donations for a charity bazaar, caring for rescued orchids, and a special talk for mothers to celebrate Mother’s Day. The activities also connected new volunteers to the organization, and served as a meaningful reminder that it’s possible to make giving back a regular part of life.

Good Deeds Day Week 2026 demonstrated the power of people coming together to give back across Brazil. From helping animals and protecting the environment to supporting families and strengthening communities, volunteers showed that doing good can take many forms and spark meaningful change.

Good Deeds Day, an annual global day of doing good, is the pinnacle of doing good year-round. Initiated in 2007 by businesswoman, philanthropist, and founder of Goodnet, Shari Arison, Good Deeds Day has grown to 115 countries with millions of participants. Good Deeds Day 2026 will be on April 12.
