It’s always fun to celebrate life’s wins. Maybe you landed a new job, ran a marathon, or started building a positive relationship with yourself through small, consistent actions. No matter what it is, there’s plenty to appreciate.
The new accomplishment cake trend on social media is a wholesome and sweet way to gather with loved ones and do just that, according to Her Campus. It’s about recognizing the goals you’ve reached. No matter how big or small, every win counts.
How to Do the Accomplishment Cake Trend
So how do you do the accomplishment cake TikTok trend? First, gather with loved ones around a cake. Each person takes a turn saying their accomplishment out loud as they add it to the cake with a message on a toothpick or candy cane. The rest of the people around then give a round of applause. It’s a fun way to reflect on the year and celebrate yourself with friends and family. Taking a moment to name your wins helps you recognize the growth that often goes unnoticed in everyday life.
The heartwarming social media trend features everything from professional goals and having a better work-life balance to wellness wins including walking 10,000 steps daily or beginning therapy. It also has people celebrating accomplishments related to relationships, moving, volunteering, studying, travel, hobbies, and more.

More Than Just Cake
There are reasons why the trend feels so good. Tim Bono, a lecturer in psychological and brain sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, tells HuffPost it can be natural for the mind to gravitate toward the negative or what was challenging when thinking about the past, and the trend counteracts that through directing attention to the good. “Gratitude has been celebrated by psychologists as one of the simplest yet most robust ways to increase our sense of happiness,” Bono says.
It’s also a powerful way to connect with loved ones and understand them better. While your friend may have done something that seems like an obvious accomplishment, that’s not necessarily what they want to celebrate, Emma Mahony, a therapist, notes. “It’s a good way to celebrate people, because everyone’s wins look different,” Mahony says.
Besides getting to know your inner circle better, it can also serve up an important reminder. “I think that this is an opportunity to authentically engage with other people and to be reminded of the social support that we have,” says Bono. “We know that social connection is arguably the single strongest predictor of happiness and well-being in our lives,” he adds.
So gather a piece of paper, something to stick it on, and a delicious baked good. There’s never been a better time to celebrate your wins with friends and family.
